While we know that celebrating St. Patrick’s Day at a Japanese restaurant may sound a bit odd, we here at Moto-i love helping people have a good time. Whether you’re tired of drinking green beer every March 17th, or you’re looking for something besides corned beef and cabbage, our menu has options for everyone. With traditional Japanese cuisine and sake that’s brewed on-site, you can have a Minneapolis St. Patrick’s Day that you won’t soon forget!
Grab a Drink Before the Parade
Every year, the Minneapolis St. Patrick’s Day Association puts on its annual parade. This year, the parade starts at 6:30pm on the new and improved Nicollet Mall, which means you can grab a drink at Moto-i beforehand! Our daily happy hour runs from 2:20pm until 6:00pm, so you can have a quick bite to eat, a glass of beer or wine, or one of our homemade sake cocktails before heading downtown. We have great appetizer options during our happy hour, so if you’re in the mood for something other than Irish soda bread this year, we can help you find the perfect choice.
Celebrate Late Into the Night
Chances are a lot of the Irish pubs and taverns will be open late on St. Patty’s Day, but they’ll likely be packed until last call. At Moto-i, we’re always open until 2:00am, so if you’re looking for a spot that’s a bit out of the way, but still easy to get to, stop by our restaurant on your way home. You can sit down, have something to eat, and enjoy a bit of peace and quiet after all the revelry of the day. We’re right on the corner of Lyndale and Lake, so if you have a taxi or Uber coming to take you home after a day of celebrating, they’ll be able to find you easily.
Make a Weekend Of It!
You might have plans to celebrate all weekend, and why shouldn’t you? You might have friends or family in town for St. Patrick’s Day, and you might need a spot for Sunday brunch on the 18th. Sundays are also our weekly Japanese Theater nights, so you and your friends can come at 11:00pm for $3 Godzilla bombs and happy hour food and drink specials from 10:00pm to 2:00am. The movie starts at midnight in the first-floor bar, and it can be a great way to cap off your St. Patty’s Day weekend!
If you’re looking to do something a bit different this March 17th, or you want to change it up a bit between the Irish pubs and bars you plan to visit during the day, then stop by our Japanese restaurant. We have amazing food and drink options, and we know you’ll find something you’ll enjoy. We’d love to see you, and we’ll do everything we can to make sure your weekend is something truly special. If you have a large group and you’d like to reserve one of our private event spaces, then please contact us right away.
We look forward to seeing you soon!
